This bracelet is strung by hand from 14mm lapis Lazuli beads chosen for consistent size and even tone, so the strand reads as a continuous run of colour rather than a patchwork of shades.
The colour runs deep ultramarine blue, flecked with brassy pyrite. Lapis is a rock rather than a single mineral — the blue comes from lazurite, the gold flecks from pyrite, the white from calcite. It polishes smoothly but is relatively soft.
The single-wrap length keeps it close to the wrist rather than loose, and the polish is even across the strand.
Lapis was carried from the mountains of Afghanistan to Egypt more than five thousand years ago. Ground to powder it became ultramarine, the pigment reserved for the most important commissions of the Renaissance.
In traditional lore lapis belongs to wisdom and to seriousness of purpose, and it was traded across continents for thousands of years on that reputation. The gold pyrite flecks are what most people notice first — a night-sky effect that no synthetic blue manages convincingly.
Easy to wear daily: substantial enough to read as jewellery, light enough to forget you have it on. It stacks well alongside both pale and dark strands.
Softer than quartz, so it deserves separate storage away from harder stones. Use a soft dry cloth; avoid ultrasonic cleaners and harsh chemicals.
Traditional meanings and colour associations are offered for interest and for the pleasure of the story only. Each piece is natural stone, sold as jewellery, and no claim of any kind is made about its effect on the wearer.
