$270.00

Hand-strung kunzite beads in delicate lilac through to pinkish violet, on a durable stretch cord, traditionally associated with openness.

This bracelet is strung by hand from kunzite beads chosen for consistent size and even tone, so the strand reads as a continuous run of colour rather than a patchwork of shades.

The tone here runs delicate lilac through to pinkish violet. A variety of spodumene. It is strongly pleochroic, so the colour deepens or pales depending on the angle you view it from, and it can fade with prolonged strong light.

Beads are polished individually, then checked for size and finish before stringing. Slight differences in tone, translucency and internal texture are normal in natural stone and are part of what distinguishes it from synthetic material.

Kunzite was named in 1902 after the gemmologist George Kunz, who first described the Californian material.

Because kunzite was only named in the twentieth century it carries none of the ancient lore attached to older stones. What it has instead is pleochroism — the colour deepens and pales as the stone turns, which gives the strand real movement.

Wear it on its own or stacked against contrasting strands — it sits well beside both lighter and darker tones. It is light enough for all-day wear.

Keep kunzite out of prolonged direct sunlight, which can soften its colour over time, and clean it with a soft dry cloth only.

The cultural associations described above come from traditional lore, folk custom and personal sentiment. This is a natural mineral piece sold as jewellery, and nothing here is intended as a medical or therapeutic claim.
