Built from 6mm lapis Lazuli beads matched for size before stringing, this strand sits evenly on the wrist and reads as one continuous run of colour.
Expect colour in the range of deep ultramarine blue, flecked with brassy pyrite. Lapis is a rock rather than a single mineral — the blue comes from lazurite, the gold flecks from pyrite, the white from calcite. It polishes smoothly but is relatively soft.
Each bead is polished to a smooth, even finish that catches the light without reading as plastic. Because this is cut from natural stone, expect subtle variation in tone, translucency and internal texture from bead to bead — no two strands are identical, and that is the point.
Lapis was carried from the mountains of Afghanistan to Egypt more than five thousand years ago. Ground to powder it became ultramarine, the pigment reserved for the most important commissions of the Renaissance.
Lapis was prized across the ancient Near East as a stone of rank and of learning; ground into ultramarine, it was reserved for the most important commissions of the Renaissance. Its deep blue is traditionally associated with depth and with considered judgement.
Wear it on its own or stacked against contrasting strands — it sits well beside both lighter and darker tones. It is light enough for all-day wear.
This is a softer stone than quartz. Wipe with a soft dry cloth, avoid ultrasonic cleaners and harsh chemicals, and store it separately from harder pieces.
The cultural associations described above come from traditional lore, folk custom and personal sentiment. This is a natural mineral piece sold as jewellery, and nothing here is intended as a medical or therapeutic claim.
